THE MAYOR OF GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN VISITS MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE... IN THE HOPES OF BUYING A ROLLER COASTER.
MAYOR JIM SCHMITT TOOK A TOUR OF THE ZIPPIN PIPPIN IN MEMPHIS monday.
THE ROLLER COASTER WAS PART OF THE MEMPHIS FAIRGROUNDS... WHICH CLOSED ABOUT FOUR YEARS AGO.
CITY AND COUNTY OFFICIALS WERE IN THE PROCESS OF TAKING DOWN THE ROLLER COASTER .... WHEN MAYOR SCHMITT HAD AN IDEA.
HIS TOWN NEEDS A ROLLER COASTER FOR THEIR LAKE FRONT PARK... AND HE'S HOPING THE ZIPPIN PIPPIN WILL BE THAT ADDED ATTRACTION.
SCHMITT says: " I'm going to go back and get to work on this and I would like to think in the next sixty to ninety days we could finalize something and get things moving in Green Bay and really get to it next year and have that up and running."
MAYOR A.C. WHARTON SAYS AFTER TWO DAYS OF TALKS... HE'LL DO WHATEVER HE CAN TO MAKE SURE THE ZIPPIN PIPPIN HAS A NEW HOME IN GREEN BAY.
