IF YOU'RE FEELING A LITTLE ANXIOUS ABOUT THE NINE ELEVEN ANNIVERSARY.. YOU'RE NOT ALONE.
A HARRIS INTERACTIVE -- HEALTHDAY POLL SHOWS NEARLY HALF OF THOSE WHO SUFFERED A PHYSICAL OR PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEM IN THE MONTHS FOLLOWING THE ATTACKS -- STILL STRUGGLE WITH FEELINGS TODAY.
MONTEFIORE MEDICAL CENTER PSYCHOLOGIST SIMON REGO SAYS THESE FEELINGS ARE A VERY NORMAL REACTION.

REGO says: "yeah usually we try and look for-- first of all-- to recognize again that its perfectly normal on the anniversary of such a tragic event to experience some kick up of symptoms, even someone that's normally not so anxious. "

REGO says: "you know in some ways, it's not that much different. A tornado being a random, catastrophic occurrence that can impact a large community of people and a terrorist attack, again a catastrophic random occurrence that can impact a large number of people. So, symptomatically you might not see that many differences it all. You would see the same fight or flight reaction occurring in the body. Peoples heart rate can accelerate. Breathing rate can accelerate. .. and then again, having trouble with the way that they're thinking. They can have trouble with their sleep. "

REGO says: "But to look for to say maybe you should get some help, would be if you're starting to notice that the symptoms are lasting. They're not resolving after a couple of days. If they're starting to interfere with your ability to function day to day, in your job performance, your home responsibilities, if your cutting back on your social life or avoiding things as a result of them. Or if you're noticing that your much more stressed subjectively and don't think you can manage so well."
EXPERTS AGREE SOME PEOPLE MAY HAVE A HARDER TIME THAN OTHERS DEALING WITH THE OBSERVANCE.
REGO SUGGESTS GETTING OUT AND TALKING WITH OTHER PEOPLE IS ONE OF THE BEST WAYS TO CONFRONT THE FEELINGS AND MAKE YOURSELF FEEL BETTER.
