Nine years after breaking her neck in a car accident, Josie Pearson capped a remarkable rise to the pinnacle of Paralympic sport by winning Great Britain's 10th athletics gold medal of the Games. The 26-year-old set three world records on her way to claiming the discus title in the most dominant display yet by a British athlete at the Olympic Stadium.Pearson who had to give up wheelchair racing after being told the risk of further injury was too great and took up throwing less than two years ago, was a promising show jumper at the time of the crash in 2003, in which her boyfriend died and she was left paralysed.
