ASSOCIATED PRESS FASHION EXPERT NATALIE ROTMAN SAYS CELEBRITIES AREN'T TAKING AS MANY MEMORABLE FASHION RISKS THESE DAYS BECAUSE OF THE COMPUTER AGE... BUT SHE THINKS "THE DICTATOR" STAR SASHA BARON COHEN STOLE THE SHOW.
ROTMAN ALSO SAYS FASHION DESIGNERS WILL BE USING THESE RED CARPET LOOKS AS INSPIRATION FOR THE RETAIL WORLD.
ROTMAN says: "well the thing about this awards show is that you have to remember that every single solitary designer there is... anywhere in the world from paris to milan to new york to london to los angeles.... they make these dresses all year long for one moment ,this moment. The second that dress steps on this carpet over a hundred million people are seeing it you're open to the billions and not only that now girls aren't taking that many fashion risks because these pictures live on forever. You're going to be looking at these dresses and you're going to be talking about this ten years from now. Just like ten years from now we'll all be talking about Sasha Baron Cohen as the dictator, he had his bjork moment but we'll be talking about it that s the key of our fashion it has to be memorable and i think Sasha Baron Cohen nailed it"

ROTMAN says: "so the way in works in business is that first of all, there is a recession so you want women to be inspired at least to try and copy the designs. So as we're going into summer as theres wedding and people are attending big weddings... thats when a woman really gets dressed up. All of us dress up for a living. In america and throughout the world there's really only one moment when a woman dresses up and thats her wedding and theres a lot of people that come to the wedding and want to look extraordinary as well so i think a lot of the designs that we saw here tonight whether it was the art deco or whether it's a bright red moment... these are the moments that will translate into dollars for designers and for the fashion retail world when girls go out and try to copy what they saw here tonight."
THIS IS THE EIGHTY-FOURTH ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS SHOW.
